Thousands of fans and cosplayers descended upon Makuhari Messe in Chiba as the annual Tokyo Comic Con kicked off.
Celebrating pop culture, anime, and films, the event saw attendees dressed as their favorite characters from iconic franchises such as Deadpool and Star Wars.
At Tokyo Comic Con, fans can look forward to a wide range of attractions, including photo and autograph sessions with visiting stars, talk shows, exhibitions of movie props and costumes, gaming and technology demonstrations, cosplay competitions, and much more. Unique to its Japanese location, the event will also highlight Japan’s rich culture, with exhibits focusing on anime, manga, and Japanese Tokusatsu, as well as showcasing regional cuisine from across the country.
Running from December 6-8, this year’s event offers a packed schedule of activities, including cosplay competitions, exhibitions featuring iconic movie props like the DeLorean from Back to the Future, celebrity photo opportunities, and public talks.
Since its inception in 2016, Tokyo Comic Con has grown become a premier celebration of entertainment and cutting-edge technology, honouring the legacy of the legendary Stan Lee, who served as its honorary goodwill ambassador. Co-founded by Apple’s Steve Wozniak, this event draws inspiration from its sister convention, Silicon Valley Comic Con, which originated from the meeting of Wozniak and Lee, solidifying its reputation within the global Comic Con franchise that began in San Diego in 1970.
