Summer is here and the weather is heating up… so that means models start feeling a bit more frisky and shedding a lot more clothing to bare a lot more skin than usual!
In mid July, they temps really shot up and made for a really exciting, but hot & sweaty 3 day weekend here in Tokyo, Japan kicks-off a busy two weeks filled with fun photoshoots before I will head off for Suzuka 8 Hours. Like always when I have some time off, I am always looking to shoot something and put these ‘on-location’ strobes to work and push them to their limits.
To get things started, I had lined a photoshoot on Saturday which we decided to stay within the city and use the Odaiba Beach area for our fun little shoot. As expected it was so hot and so we got into what we were there for… a model in a bikini shooting in front of both my 400w/s strobes using high speed sync to take control of the powerful sunshine that was burning us up all day. As the sun began to slip away behind some late afternoon clouds before sunset, it made for some nice golden skies that were a great compliment to the late afternoon wardrobe that we ended the afternoon shooting in, but before we broke away for the day, we did fool around with some water and the high speed strobes with trying to capture/freeze the water as it splashed onto the lovely model standing by.
On Sunday, this shoot was a bit more laid back since we know each other from few Fashion Week shows and a good chance for me and this model to work together. She had only one outfit and that was plenty for what we were doing. The very light-weight one piece dress made for a fun time shooting both for me and the model, along with many other bystanders passing by… may have shown a bit too much from the underside as the breeze would stir up sometimes. It was her first time to shoot in the busy scramble crossing of Shibuya, one of the busiest crossings in the world. But that was after we found a semi-quiet alley just off the beaten path to shoot just outside of some local watering holes that were closed for the afternoon.
After catching up on some much needed relaxation, I managed to work into my schedule a quick spontaneous photoshoot with an open-minded traveler here visiting Tokyo, Japan. Was a shot in the dark, but she was available and made some time to shoot some casual stuff around the side streets of Shibuya. She was Chinese, so turned out I was lucky and could use some of the chinese outfit pieces I had as an added bonus!
My final shoot here in Tokyo before I pack my things up to cover 2 weeks of events around the Nagoya area was with the first young lady that I shot with out in Odaiba. This time we will work on some more poses and styles as I help mold this very attractive young lady into a beautiful masterpiece.
